The Art of Action

In the weeks to come I will try to distill the qualities of an actor. As much as for myself, as for others. And not just for actors, but for all creatives. My hope is that it will spark something for you and your art. Whatever it may be.

My understanding of acting was born out of my education in the theatre, and so I will begin there... 

Theatre is an art that exists in both time and space, and so it is the art form most like life. The only difference between the two is that in life you don't know what's going to happen next. In the theatre we know what is going to happen, but an actor must behave in such a way as to not know. Our actions must be truthful and honest. Acting is the art of action. 

The key to this art is imagination...
